It has been a happy day.
J, who usually yells his way through our Wednesday morning swimming lesson, behaved rather cherubically this morning. Perhaps he was having an attack of guilt recalling the number of times he hit me in the face yesterday, mid-tantrum (his, not mine). Either way, I was grateful for the change of aquatic heart.
Then a wonderful friend popped by this afternoon with a bunch of gorgeous sunflowers to congratulate me on my pregnancy (6 weeks down, a mere 34 to go!). And this evening, after a long day looking after her two young daughters, one of my loveliest and kindest friends brought over a delicious meal and spent the evening with me (since my husband is away on business).
I wonder if we realise the impact our acts of kindness have on those around us. These two special ladies have motivated me to do something kind for somebody tomorrow. And they have reminded me that when family is far away, friends simply expand to fill the gaps.
P.S. I’d apologise for the lengthy blogging hiatus if I thought there were any readers out there, but since this blog is really no more than a piece of self-indulgent rambling, I assume there is no need!
